$16.00 or $17.00 per hour
This is the current state baseline in the federal consolidated table. A city, county, industry, or worker specific rate may be higher.
The $17.00 rate applies in New York City, Nassau County, Suffolk County, and Westchester County. The rest of the state uses $16.00.

Before payroll closes
Verify the rate for the work location
- Confirm the city and county where the work is performed. A local rate may be higher than the state baseline.
- Check whether employer size, industry, occupation, age, training status, or another coverage rule changes the rate.
- Review tip credit rules separately before using a cash wage below the full minimum wage.
- Keep the applicable rate and its effective date with the payroll record used for each work location.
